I don't know about you, but those "Buzz Words" or "Management Speak" that have been around for some time seem to be growing in number. I have to admit that I am occasionally guilty of using one, although I really do try not to!
Here's are two I really dislike:
Let's touch base
Synergy: I heard someone use this in a presentation approximately 28 years ago. He didn't use it once but several times. I was with a group of other trainers and who, when I questioned them later, had no idea what the word meant any more than I did. I found it utterly distracting at the time and believe it said a lot about the man who was using it at the time.
I do know what it means now, but this is one I do manage to avoid using myself.
Let's touch base: This is one I absolutley detest with a passion! If you want to meet up with someone/phone/video call or whatever your method, PLEASE just say so. Many of these words are actually a barrier to communication, not a form of it.
Rant over, for now.
Please tell me what are the Buzz words you hate or love?
Off on my holidays now
