As this is published I will be residing on the beautiful island of Cyprus for 10 days; on holiday actually.
I love going away and usuually aim for the warm/hot sunny climates as many of us Brits do. I'm not a "sun-worshiper" as such. I will sunbathe for a short time, and enjoy having my pale white body turn what I consider a more attractive shade (tan). Being fair-skinned I burn easily and used to suffer a lot with a rash that appeared whenever I was in a warmer climate as a child.
Thankfully, my skin has become much more aclimatised to the sun as I have aged. I did suffer with heat stroke two years ago and this has made me very wary of sitting in the sun too long. A little exposure with plenty of cream is what I aim for. By the time you read this I should be a more pleasant shade of off-white.
The problem with going on holiday and running your own business, is that you cannot really let go completely and leave it all behind. I really wish I could, but I find that impossible. It may just be responding to urgent emails and important tasks, but I always take my phone (who doesn't) iPad and/or lap top.
We all need time to relax and get away from it all. Some people are good at meditating and mindfulness, but I have yet to conquer the stress of everyday life using these methods.
What do you do if you go on holiday and run your own business? Advice, tips welcome ("Get a life" does not count as advice ).
Thanks for reading.
